On July 3, 2025 Congress passed the sweeping, One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). Amid the self-imposed rush to deliver the bill to President Donald Trump’s desk by July 4, many Americans are still looking for information about the bill. This bill was largely debated in the dead of night and pushed through at breakneck speed. The confusion that many Americans are experiencing has been exacerbated by misleading and inaccurate statements about how and whether the bill’s cuts will affect people’s health. It will!
Make no mistake about it – this bill will negatively impact U.S. health! Those who need Medicaid the most will be negatively affected. Furthermore, from 2027 to 2034, Medicare benefits will be cut.
